How to live your best life.
Positivity is something that I have been very vocal about throughout the last few years of my life. I believe that to live your best life, you have to have a strong mindset. In this post, I really want to talk about the small things that I have done to really and truly live my best life.
Start off on the right foot.
Starting off your day on your right foot is something that has made a significant impact on my life. Now you may wonder how this small act can change your day, in all honesty, it doesn’t. What it does is make you realize that today is a new day. It’s a fresh start and what happened the day before doesn’t matter anymore. Beginning your day starting on your right foot, you are given the mindset of a clean slate. This helps with being positive, which isn’t just something that only affects you, but also the people around you. If you’re negative, people feed off of that. If you’re happy, people thrive off of it.
Meditating is something that I have just recently begun over the past few months. I did not fully understand it until recently. It is something that really does bring peace in times of distress. It makes you more self-aware and helps you focus on what is happening at the moment. I think that being present and living every second to the fullest is one way to better yourself. Although things can become stressful, your happiness should be your main priority. Now I have to admit, I am not someone who meditates for long periods, but even 5-10 minutes a day is enough to bring balance and calmness into my life.
I believe that complimenting yourself is something that people should not shy away from. For you to be happy and live your best life, you need to be comfortable in your own skin and love yourself for who you are. Whether you compliment yourself on your physical attributions or your personality traits, being proud of yourself is not a bad thing. I think that once you can look in the mirror and point out something(s) that you like about yourself, then you will begin to see more things that you like. Complimenting yourself is so fulfilling because instead of seeking attention from others, you can receive it on your own.
Do what makes you happy.
We live in a world that consists of so much judgment. I think that when you find what you love, you should run with it. No matter what you are doing, people are always going to judge you, so you might as well be happy with whatever you are doing. This is something that took me a long time to understand because I have always been scared of the judgment of others. At the end of the day, you are living for yourself and not for other people. With the realization of this has come so many opportunities for me. I think that when you let go and allow yourself to be 100% authentic, that so much good will come.
Being a college student means that I own more t-shirts than a toddler, but I have realized that as I get older, I find joy in things as small as putting on a cute outfit. Granted I will probably wear that outfit multiple times in a week, it still made me feel good about myself. I think that this coincides with complimenting yourself. When you dress cute and wear things that compliment your body, you will flourish. People are attracted to confidence.
Surround yourself with supportive people.
One thing that a lot of people learn the hard way is that not everyone has your best intentions in mind. One thing that has helped me “live my best life” was surrounding myself with people who have similar mindsets as me and who want me to succeed as bad as I want them to. Surround yourself with people who wish to for you to grow in every aspect of life.
Smiling, let me just tell you how far smiling gets you. Even when you are having a tough day, you have to fake it till you make it. Smiling is something that is not just good for you, but also the people around you. When you smile at someone, it’s hard not to smile back. And, let’s face it, smiling makes you happy; it attracts people to you.
Live your best life.
With all that has been said, I am the happiest that I have ever been. Now I focus my energy on just being the most authentic version of myself. Also, I have changed my attitude a lot over the past few years and wake up every day, ready to take on what the day brings me. I start every day with a smile and am finding the positives in all situations. This helps me in living my best life! (:
